The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: 10 Powerful Lessons
Congratulations - you've read the book!
But what f*cks did you glean from it?!!!
Here are 10 Powerful Lessons from this title.
1. Life does not to go your way all the time - and that's OKAY.
We challenge life when we give too many f*ck s about anything and everything. It is like claiming to have an inalienable right to always be happy and comfortable - and this is when life f*cks us.
2. Choose your battles. Put your energy only where it counts.
The true mark of maturity is when one learns to give a f*ck about only that which is f*ck-worthy.
3. Overdoing something is doing nothing at all.
We show our colors by what we choose to reject - and rejecting nothing shows we have no identity at all.
4. Failure is how you learn and grow - it is a necessity of life.
A toddler trying to learn to walk will fall down and hurt himself hundreds of times. Yet he will never stop and think that walking isn’t worth it and that he might as well give up.
5. Your biggest enemy is your fear of failure.
We are only truly successful at something we’re willing to fail at. Where we're unwilling to fail, we’re unwilling to succeed.
6. Who you are constantly changes.
Recognizing that you can never know yourself fully is important. So resist the urge to find yourself and be comfortable in never knowing who you are exactly. This keeps you striving and discovering. It forces you to remain humble in your judgments and accepting of the differences in others.
7. Not every “problem” is a negative thing.
There's no such thing as life without problems - DO NOT hope for it. Hope, instead, for a life full of good problems.
8. Progress - be great at another thing once you become great at one thing.
People who recognize that they are mediocre and average tend to believe they could be so much better. They become great because they understand that they are not 'already great'.
9. Like failure - hard times are a necessity of life.
People define themselves by what they're willing to struggle for - how would you define yourself?
10. Caring less leads only to better things.
Self-improvement is basically about prioritizing better values. This means choosing better things to give a f*uck about. After all, one gets better problems when one give better f*ucks.
